Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that Sport Fair will be at the Lake Newport pool tonight, around 7:45PM selling team suits. Sport Fair will only be able to take checks and cash this evening, NO CREDIT CARDS. We will have 2 tables set up for the teams that share the pool. North Hill's Team suits will be sold under the roof, closest to the front desk. We are practicing on the shallow end tonight, so the table will be on that side of the pool. Lake Newport will be on the far end of the building, near the sand/volleyball court. Please make sure you are in the correct line.

Also - you have 2 days left to order team Spirit-wear. Those orders are being taken by Lisa Barker, checks made out to Lisa or order on the Hurricane's website, via PayPal.

Note from Lisa: We have not met the minimum on anything but t-shirts right now. If anyone else would like to order, please do so by Friday night! I will accept paper forms at practice tonight and tomorrow or you can order on the website if that is easier.

**** Please note we changed the color of the sweatshirt to red with white lettering as it was more popular. The logo and placement are as pictured in the graphic just the color changed. Thanks and see everyone tonight.

Hi Everyone -

Welcome to the 2011 Summer Swim Season. The North Hill's Hurricanes have a full roster for the season, and we are so excited that we have so many returning swimmers to the team. We are equally excited about our newest swimmers that have joined for this season.

Some Highlights for the Season:

The North Hill's Hurricanes coaching staff is: Returning Head Coach Chris Clark, Returning Assistant Head Coach, Lindsay Najjoum, Taylor Bently and Courtner Clark are returning as 2nd Assistant Coaches, and Keara Jones and Jay Wareham are back as our Jr. Coaches. We are so thrilled to have all of the coaches returning from last year. It should make for an exciting season! Welcome back coaches - we are so looking forward to a Fun, Safe and Winning Season!

The first practice of the season will be Tuesday evening, May 31st, at Lake Newport Pool. We will also hold our new parent meeting that same evening. All of our practices are held at Lake Newport Pool. Our home meets are held at North Shore Pool, near Lake Anne Village Center. Evening practice schedules will be all age 10 and under, will practice from 7:15PM until 8:00PM. The age 11 and older will practice from 8:00PM until 8:45PM. The team practices Monday through Friday evenings until Fairfax County School is out of session. Morning practices start on Wednesday, June 22nd. We will send out reminders closer to the date.

Spirit-wear will be on the Hurricane's website this year, including placing the orders through PayPal. We will send out the link in the next couple of days so you can order on line if you would like to order spirit-wear and/or swim caps. Swim suits will be the same model as last year. If you need new suits (new to team or different sizes), Sport Fair will be visiting Lake Newport Pool (our practice location) in early June.

Please remember that most information that you need is on the RSTA general website or on the Hurricane's website. The full schedule is now available on RSTA.org - please remember that all swimmers are required to swim at least 3 meets (we only swim 6 for the season), and all parents are required to volunteer for meets. We will have more information to you in the coming days/weeks.

Our first meet of the 2010 season is almost here. We will be swimming at AUTUMNWOOD Pool - (see the RSTA.org website for directions). We like to caravan to our away Meets. We will meet at the NORTH POINT GIANT PARKING LOT AT 7AM Saturday morning. Meet at the far end of the parking lot nearest to Lake Newport (in front of the Ravel Dance Studio and Honey Baked Ham Store). We will drive to Autumnwood Pool and arrive there before 7:30AM. If you don't want to caravan, but still come into the pool as a team, arrive right before 7:30AM, and the team can go into the pool together. The theme is HAWAIIAN - so bring out the grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts and flower lei's.

Warm-ups start for our team promptly at 7:45AM. The Meet should start on time at 8AM. Please make sure you have all your swimmers at the pool no later than 7:30AM, so they can check in with the coaches. You can find the complete dual meet sheets available on line at the rsta.org website. I'm not sure when the league will post that information, but it should be sometime Friday evening. You can make a copy so you know what your swimmer(s) are swimming. We will also have the meet sheets posted at the pool. We will also have Meet Sheet Coordinators available on Saturday morning to assist you in reading the sheets, so you understand what event, heat, lane your swimmer is swimming.

Please make sure you know your job for the Meet. Pat sent out the information this week. I'll have a job sheet at practice tomorrow night, if you have forgotten what you signed up for on Saturday, 6/12/10.

Relay teams will be put together by the coaches.

Welcome to the 2010 Season!

Hello North Hill's Families: 

Updates:

* We had to select a new suit for this season (you don't have to purchase new, if your last year's suits work). The name of the suit is called: Cyber Swirl in Red - it's available at Sport Fair in Arlington, VA - address is 5121 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA - phone number - 703-524-9508. Sport Fair will also be at our practice pool (Lake Newport) the first week in June, so you can purchase suits then. We get a discount from the website price, please mention RSTA - North Hill's.

* All new to the team swimmers will be evaluated the first week of practice, to ensure the safety of the swimmer. Practice starts on Tuesday, June 1st at 7PM, for all 10 and younger swimmers. Practice for 11 and older will start at 7:45PM. All practices will be held at Lake Newport Pool in Reston. Please plan on attending practices, even in the rain, unless you receive an email that practice has been canceled. We won't cancel practice, unless Reston Association closes the pool.

* Morning practices will start on Friday, June 25th (the first day off from school for Fairfax County). Morning practices will start at 8:15AM for 10 and younger and 9:00AM for 11 and older.

* Our first meet will be held on June 12th, at Autumnwood Pool. Look at the RSTA website for the complete schedule. We will swim all of our meets from 6/12 through 7/18. We have our bye the last weekend of regular meets, which will be July 24th.

* Our swim team pool party will be held on July 18th (Sunday) at North Hill's Pool.

* We will have parent meetings the first week of practice. We will split the meetings up between new parents to the team and returning parents. Please remember that it takes a lot of volunteers to make our meets run smoothly. We will be looking for volunteers the night of the parent meetings to fill in the slots for the entire season. Please think about what you might like to do to volunteer.

Lastly, I would like to introduce our coaching staff for summer 2010. We are really excited about this coaching team! We know that they will work hard to make all your swimmers have a great, fun, safe season.
